Located minutes from the Avenida da Liberdade, the convent of Santa Joana dates back to the 17th Century, and belonged to the Order of Preachers before becomming defunct in 1890.
The aesthetic of the hotel design includes contemporary interiors that will highlight references of the 17th-century structure, while creating comfort and design statements.
It will house over 350 guest rooms and suites and will also include co-working/ café space, restaurants, private swimming pool, spa, gym and internal gardens.
Our work on this project resulted in the practice being shortlisted for the AJ 100’s International Practice of the Year award alongside Zara Hadid Architects and Foster & Partners.
