Exciting Progress Ahead: Northfleet Harbourside Development
We are delighted to share the latest updates on the Northfleet Harbourside project, an ambitious waterfront development that promises to revitalise a currently underutilised area in Gravesend, Kent in the UK. Recently, Gravesham Borough Council resolved to grant planning permission for this transformative scheme and we are eagerly looking forward to progressing the project with our development partners.
A New Vision for Northfleet
Situated along the River Thames, the 50-acre Northfleet Harbourside site will be transformed into a vibrant new community, complete with new parks, green spaces and a dynamic retail and leisure destination. The development will feature 3,500 much-needed new homes, a mix of private and affordable housing, which will help address local housing demand while creating a modern, sustainable neighbourhood.
In addition to the residential component, the project will include 300,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, offering a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars, cafés and experiential leisure opportunities. A 300-bed hotel and 150,000 sq ft of commercial office space will further enhance the area, making Northfleet Harbourside a thriving hub of activity and a desirable destination for both locals and visitors.
A Boost for the Local Community
The Northfleet Harbourside development will serve as a catalyst for regeneration along this stretch of the River Thames, breathing new life into the area and providing long-term benefits for the community. We are particularly excited about the positive impact this project will have on the local economy, with 3,000 new jobs expected to be created during and after construction. The development will also enhance local services, with new community facilities, medical and sports amenities and improved pedestrian and cycle paths all contributing to the area’s transformation.
One of the standout features of the project is the provision of a new 8,000-capacity stadium for Ebbsfleet United Football Club, securing the long-term future of the club and creating improved facilities for fans and the wider community. The stadium will be a focal point of the development, offering a state-of-the-art venue for sporting events and other community activities.
Damian Irvine, Chief Executive Officer of Ebbsfleet United Football Club, commented:
“Today is a truly significant day in our club’s great history and for the people of Northfleet and Gravesend. The outcome has been the result of many months of hard work and collaboration with Gravesham Borough Council, our development partners, and investors. The long-term sustainability of the football club, as well as a positive long-term impact for future generations, has been secured.”
Looking Ahead
With outline planning consent now achieved, we are eager to move into the next phase of development. The Northfleet Harbourside Development Company will continue working closely with Gravesham Borough Council to develop detailed plans for each phase of the project. Our shared goal is to create a vibrant, sustainable community that offers new opportunities for local people while showcasing the potential of waterfront regeneration.
As the project progresses, we look forward to keeping you updated on the exciting milestones ahead. Northfleet Harbourside represents a bright future for Gravesend and Northfleet, and we are proud to be part of this transformational journey.
